I sat down to write a report about last nights ride, and noticed a theme among the other blogs in my sidebar.
After a long and hard fought battle with cancer, Susan Nelson wife of Elden Nelson, the Fat Cyclist, passed away last night.
I’ve only ever met Elden in person briefly. Though we traded barbs in the comment section of his blog a few times. But I have been following with great interest he and his family’s story and the trials of the terrible disease that has taken his beautiful wife.
If you haven’t read his blog, it might do you some good to scroll through past posts about his wife’s cancer. The one that hit me the hardest when he posted it is here. Though it was not as starkly painful as the brief note that he left last night.
As a cyclist in the Utah area, or anywhere else you might be, you will no doubt hear suggestions to donate to the Lance Armstrong Foundation in honor of Susan. Let me echo that thought. It has become a passion of Fatty’s and is a fitting tribute to Susan.
It might also do your karma some good to head over to Fatty’s Blog and leave a note with the thousands of others who have done so.
And when you get up from the computer, find the person/people you love the most, and take the opportunity to give them a big hug, and tell them that you love them.
