Frequently Asked Questions

What makes your bike shop different from all the others?

Our people are rad and the atmosphere here is definitely different compared to other bike shops. We get customers coming in who come just to chill and talk to us and tell us their biking adventures while we work. We also own our building and work hard to keep overhead low so we can keep the biggest inventory around.

Which bikes do you tend to sell the most?

We notice more people buying mountain bikes because they start off at an inexpensive price and are more versatile than other bikes. And that’s nice for people who are new to bikes and not sure where they will be riding most. Road and BMX bikes are pretty popular also. But really, we sell a lot of everything.

Are Bike Peddler’s employees bike riders themselves?

Of course! We wouldn’t have novices working on your bikes. We have four full-time and four part-time employees who ride pretty much everything from mountain, road and BMX. We are experts on bikes and that’s why we work at Bike Peddler.

What is the most popular bike service?

Bike tune-ups are our most popular bike service. This is because we offer a year of free tune-ups to customers who buy bikes from us. Tune-ups should be done often — once or twice a year at the very minimum.

Do you service department store bikes?

Sorry, we don’t. It’s not you, it’s your disposable bike. It’s totally worth the money to buy a quality bike that will last you a long time.

What are some tips for taking care of my bike?

Store your bike like you care about it. Don’t leave it out in the rain or snow. Be sure to do tune-ups often to keep your bike in good shape. Also, buy real bike lube (not just WD40) that is meant for bike chains and use it once every couple of weeks. Wipe down your bike after a ride to keep dirt from building up. Keep your tires properly inflated. And ride on the right side of the street.

How do I know which bike is for me?

Know what you plan on riding with your bike. If you’re going to be on the road more, go with a road bike. If you’re going to be on the mountain, choose a mountain bike. If you think you’ll be doing a little bit of both, then consider buying a hybrid bike that can do both. Also, choose a bike that is personally good for you. Some bikes may be popular in the mainstream, but don’t meet what you’re need for your situation.

What else do you sell besides bikes?

Everything that is bike related. Bike parts, clothing, water bottles, car racks, bike trailers, gloves, air pumps, helmet cameras, and much more. Check the list of brands we carry. If you want it, we got it.
